We wanted to make a positive statement. Our message was: We are ready for the new obligations as described in the Proposal for a circular vehicle regulation, but some conditions need to be fulfilled.

Slide 1-5 need no further explanation as it was introduction.
Slide 6 describes the position of the ATF in the Proposal
Slide 7-10 gives an image of our activities.
Slide 11-12 explains material removal. Big parts that are rather easy to remove should not end up in PST. These parts are a clean mono stream. We prefer a market mechanism rather than a subsidised system.
Slide 13-14 explain parts removal is not easy money. A lot of knowledge, information and market insight is necessary. But parts reuse saves 80% CO2.
Slide 15 only explains the biggest item is the industry needs to become circular.
Slide 16 explains the ATF role in this new circularity as we see it. But…
Slide 17 describes the conditions for cicularity. ATFs are ready, we hope for a material market. Only worst case we need to be compensated if removal costs more than the material is worth.
Slide 18 is an old beetle. These cars were mainly from 1 kind of steel, some aluminim and some other materials. Itw as easy to separate and easy to reuse the materials.
Slide 19 shows the plastics in a modern car. Much harder to separate, harder to determinate and no longer easy to reuse all materials.
Slide 20 shows the different types of steel that are not simply reusable for making new cars. Material reuse is not getting any easier.
Slide 21 decribes the need for ‘Design for Recycling’.
Slide 22 the conclusions speak for themselves
