Last EGARA’s Brussels meeting on 14th November had some important issues apart from the standard agenda points about the EGARA organization itself. Main item was the finalization of the text about amendments on the Circular vehicle Proposal. Besides that, we had Jaco Huisman from DG Environment, accompanied by the newest member of his team Chloe Costa and Johannes Chatzis from IDIS.

The EGARA group decided the final text of the joint produced statement in which we make some suggestions for amendments in order to make the Regulation more effective. This was a rather extensive process in which all EGARA’s members were involved. Despite the differences in the individual countries, we managed to find a compromise that we all support. It took 4 digital meetings on this topic alone, but we managed to set up a document which can serve as a base for any member to discuss several items with between ATF organisations and their national governments about the Proposal for a Circular Vehicle regulation. This proposal can be found online at the EGARA website: www.egara.eu .

Jaco Huisman answered a lot of difficult questions about ownership of waste and the moment parts are no longer waste but products and EPR. We are happy he found some time to be among us and share insights in the Proposal and take knowledge on our views and needs. We always share our practice and experience with him to make sure nobody else will pretend to be expert about our business and industry.

Johannes Chatzis from  IDIS (Managing Director tec4U-Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH) had a presentation on the new version of the IDIS system. We see more uniform set up info. Especially the information about batteries and materials is very practical and easy to find. Of course we hoped he could tell something about parts information, but Johannes only said we need to wait how the Regulation will eventually turns out.

Of course we had some EGARA matters like finances (including the 2025 budget), the 2025 action plan, the EGARA activities from the past 6 months and meetings in 2025 (Spring Meeting will be combined with the FORS meeting in Warsaw). In all, we had a well visited, fruitful meeting with good results like updates about EC matters and IDIS and an important final text for our interests in the Regulation proposal. This is what an organization like EGARA is for. We value our contacts and network and all the knowledge and experience in this group that is shared to be effective.

We keep you posted!
